Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
